Yu studied 5 years West Medicine, Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine at Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine China, graduated with bachelor degree in medicine in 1989. Followed this with a period of 12 years hospital-based work in China before establishing the Chinese Acupuncture & Skin Clinic.

She has been member of the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture(UK) (ATCM) since practicing in UK.

With over 30 years experience, Yu has done extensive post graduate study and has gained rich experience in the field of gynaecological disorders and infertility.​​​​
